Cylinder Head Work
All cylinder heads at Barnette's Engines are cleaned, pressure tested and machined before being put on a short block engine assembly.
Pressure testing a cylinder head in a n AXE pressure tested ensures there are no surface cracks, creaks between the seats or internal cracks. This type of pressure tester completely submerges the cylinder head in water.
Barnette's Engines performs a three angle valve job on all of our remanufactured cylinder heads. After the valve seat and guide work is complete the head is resurfaced.
Resurfacing the cylinder heads leaves the head with a true surface to mate up to the block during assembly. This, along with proper torque on the head bolt, ensures a perfect seal between the cylinder head and engine block
